Solar Contract Reviews

Solar Farms are becoming common in our area and the contracts from the solar companies need careful review.

Let us look over the contract that you have been offered to help you determine whether or not the terms will meet your financial and estate planning needs.

What To Consider When Entering Into A Solar Contract

Before signing a Solar Contract, see an attorney who can help you determine whether or not allowing someone else to use your land is the way that you want your land used. A Solar Lease or Solar Easement contract can last as long as 35 years.

Ask yourself if you are prepared to do without the use of the land for that long.

Solar Contracts often are leases or easements covering the privilege of using your land to produce solar energy. Other times a corporation will want to purchase your land. Solar Contracts often ask you to give the Lessee, the person or company wishing to use your land, the right to sell the contract to another person or entity without your prior approval.

Other things to consider include:

- Deciding whether or not the amount of money offered for the use of your land over a number of years will meet or exceed what your own use of the land currently gives you.

- If the land has been in the family for generations, do you want to change what the land will be used for?

- Should possibly changing the use of the land be a family discussion?
